Explore Cape Town and Sabi Sands Nature Reserve

Begin your adventure in Cape Town, a vibrant city embraced by dramatic mountains and a sparkling coastline. Day 01

Arrive in Cape Town and travel to your hotel Camissa House. The boutique hotel has an enviable location, set in a quiet, residential part of Cape Town, at the base of Table Mountain.  

Day 02

Spend your first full day exploring the city. If the weather is clear, visit Table Mountain via the cable car and enjoy the spectacular views as you rise. If you are after a challenge, hike one of the trails to reach the mountain's plateau. In the afternoon, visit the V&A Waterfront, where you will find a vibrant atmosphere and a number of shops and restaurants to explore. 

Day 03

Explore the area surrounding Cape Town.  Travel to Cape Point National Park and visit Boulders Beach to see the African Penguins before continuing to Cape Point to enjoy stunning views of the Cape of Good Hope. Return to Cape Town along Chapman's Peak Drive, one of the most picturesque driving routes in the world. 

Day 04

Spend your final day in Cape Town, either exploring more of the city itself or venturing further beyond the city to the nearby winelands. Within Cape Town, consider visiting the colourful Bo-Kaap neighbourhood or one of the many beautiful beaches which frame the city. 

Day 05

Today, return to Cape Town airport and fly to Hoedspruit before travelling to Arathusa Safari Lodge. Make sure to look out of the windows during your flight - the dramatically changing scenery across South Africa is beautiful from the air. You will arrive at Arathusa in time for your first game drive. 

Day 06 - 07

Spend the next two days enjoying game drives within the Sabi Sands Nature Reserve. The reserve is home to the Big 5 as well as Cape hunting dogs, zebra, elephant and giraffe. During your time at the lodge, enjoy  watching the wildlife who flock to the water hole in front of the property. 

Day 08

After an unforgettable trip in South Africa, fly home via Johannesburg.

That said, for the best choice of boutique lodges and the most sought-after properties, we recommend beginning the planning process around nine months to a year ahead, allowing the widest possible access to availability and experiences. For certain safari lodges and iconic seasonal moments, such as Japan’s cherry blossom season, we would advise planning up to two years in advance.
