Discover Namibia on this 12-day itinerary blending a self-drive adventure with scenic flights across some of Nambia's most striking landscapes. Fly from Windhoek to Sossusvlei to explore its iconic dunes, then to Swakopmund, a coastal town where desert meets ocean. 

Continue by road to Twyfelfontein to experience the scenic Huab Valley and ancient rock engravings. Travel to Ongava Private Game Reserve for thrilling safaris, and finish your journey at Okonjima Nature Reserve, home to inspiring AfriCAT conservation efforts.

This journey offers the perfect mix of adventure, luxury, and breathtaking landscapes, showcasing Namibia’s diverse beauty.

Day 01

After arriving in Windhoek, transfer to Villa Violet for your first night in the country. Relax at the peaceful guesthouse and prepare for your adventure. 

Day 02-03

Today you will fly to Sossusvlei, flying over some of Namibia's most iconic landscapes. Travel to Wilderness Kulala Lodge, set at the foot of Sossusvlei's soaring dunes. With direct, private access to the Namib-Naukluft National Park, the lodge has an unbeatable location.  Explore the area; try and climb 'Big Daddy', one of the highest dunes in the world, and search for the unique, desert adapted wildlife. 

Day 04-05

Fly to the coast, arriving at Swakopmund. The bustling town is a popular destination, known for its German influence, with wide avenues and colonial architecture. During your two night stay at The Delight, explore the town.  Enjoy a catamaran trip to nearby Walvis Bay, searching for the marine big 5 en route. 

Day 06-07

Collect your hire car and begin the self-drive portion of your adventure. Drive towards Twyfelfontein, in northwestern Namibia.  Stay at Mowani Mountain Lodge, a beautiful lodge nestled between granite rocks. Spend two nights at the lodge, visiting historic Bushman rock carvings and enjoying bush walks. 

Day 08-09

Drive towards Etosha National Park, arriving at Ongava Game Reserve, a private reserve that borders the park. Stay at Ongava Lodge, a luxurious lodge that overlooks a popular waterhole and sweeping plains. Enjoy game drives within the reserve and neighbouring national parks. 

Day 10-11

Continue your adventure and drive to Okonjima Plains Camp in the Okonjima Nature Reserve. Home to to AfriCAT Foundation, this is a fantastic place to finish your trip.  Spend two nights at the camp, learning about the foundation's work rehabilitating cheetah and leopard while joining guides on excursions and research activities. 

Day 12

Drive to Windhoek, ready to fly home after an incredible journey through Namibia.

How far in advance should I book a holiday?

There is no single rule when it comes to booking your next escape, as every journey is completely bespoke. Whether you’re planning a special milestone trip years in advance or seeking a spontaneous last-minute escape, we can help shape it at any stage. That said, for the best choice of boutique lodges and the most sought-after properties, we recommend beginning the planning process around nine months to a year ahead, allowing the widest possible access to availability and experiences. For certain safari lodges and iconic seasonal moments, such as Japan’s cherry blossom season, we would advise planning up to two years in advance.
