In the heart of Kafue National Park, overlooking the Busanga Plains, is Shumba Camp. The camp’s central deck provides panoramic views of the expansive plains, which are home to an incredible diversity of wildlife. The area is known for excellent wildlife experiences – there are plenty of antelope, drawing predators ranging from leopards and cheetahs to the ‘flying lions’ seen leaping across water channels. The area is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 500 species recorded. Shumba Camp features six luxurious safari tents, each raised on wooden platforms to make the most of the views of the surrounding landscape. The tents are spacious and elegantly furnished, with private decks, and large windows to allow guests to fully immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Busanga Plains. Whether you’re planning a special milestone trip years in advance or seeking a spontaneous last-minute escape, we can help shape it at any stage. That said, for the best choice of boutique lodges and the most sought-after properties, we recommend beginning the planning process around nine months to a year ahead, allowing the widest possible access to availability and experiences. For certain safari lodges and iconic seasonal moments, such as Japan’s cherry blossom season, we would advise planning up to two years in advance.
