Wild Coast Tented Lodge is a remote safari lodge, set along the south coast on the fringes of Yala National Park. The unique tents are shaped like cocoons, inspired by the boulders which can be spotted on the nearby beach. Inside each of the spacious, vaulted cocoon tents, guests will find luxurious four-poster beds and copper freestanding bathtubs. Each one feels very private, dotted throughout the jungle. The lodge operates on an all-inclusive basis, including all meals and drinks as well as a daily game drive to nearby Yala National Park, for the opportunity to see over 40 different mammals and 200 bird species, including leopards, sloth bears and jackals. Visit the lodge’s well-stocked library after game drives to read books on the area's wildlife and see specimens and fossils found nearby. The restaurant is housed in a large dome-shaped bamboo pavilion, with archways running around the building allowing the refreshing sea breeze to pass through. The restaurant serves delicious Sri Lankan cuisine with a contemporary take, drawing on inspiration from the nearby Malay community from the neighbouring village; Kirinda. That said, for the best choice of boutique lodges and the most sought-after properties, we recommend beginning the planning process around nine months to a year ahead, allowing the widest possible access to availability and experiences. For certain safari lodges and iconic seasonal moments, such as Japan’s cherry blossom season, we would advise planning up to two years in advance.
